| Resumo: | In this work, an approximative approach was developed based on the ILS (Iterated Local Search) metaheuristic combined with the Variable Neighborhood Descent (VND) metaheuristic for the cell formation problem in manufacturing systems, which form the backbone of manufacturing cell systems. The proposed solution explores various neighborhood structures and the diversification capability that the perturbation mechanism adds to ILS. Computational results demonstrate that the proposed ILS-VND-RD algorithm performs excellently and achieves some the best solutions existing in the manufacturing cell formation literature. |
