| Sumario: | Within the studies on development, the perspective that development occurs through the interaction between individual characteristics of the child and environmental factors has been highlighted, with the child's temperament and parenting practices being widely studied factors in child outcomes. This association was also found in studies that bring a genetic-environmental association between exposure to adverse environment and stress increase in children, with telomere being a marker associated with psychological stress and early exposure to environmental adversities. Individual and environmental factors influence children's self-regulation, and some aspects seem to help behavioral control. Therefore, the focus of the present study is understanding how these factors interact in children in models that can help explain internalizing and externalizing behaviors. It is also intended to verify how the association between temperament and biological and behavioral outcomes changes depending on the parenting style used with these children. No significant results were found in telomere length investigations. However, our results indicate that, for both internalizing and externalizing behavior, the prominent association factors are Surgency and Effortful Control dimensions of temperament and Authoritarian maternal style. Furthermore, it was also found that there are significant differences in behavioral problems and Permissive style among different temperament profiles. Finally, investigating the moderation effect of parenting on the relationship between temperament and behavioral problems, the results point to a moderation effect of Authoritarian and Permissive styles on the relationship of Extraversion with externalizing behaviors. |
