Method A total of 25 dyads participated in each group and were filmed while free playing. The films were examined using the observation adapted protocol Mother-Child Interaction Coding System, for later comparison. Positive interactive behaviors were significantly more frequent among infants in Group 2. Results Infants in Group 1 showed more non-interactive behaviors than the other group. Mothers in Group 2 showed more positive sensitive and less non-responsive behaviors than mothers in Group 1. Conclusion The results show the importance of the infants’ first social relationships for their development process, especially when there is a risk factor involved, pointing to the need of interventions with families as of the diagnosis phase.Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo (FAPESP)Universidade Estadual Paulista “Júlio de Mesquita Filho” Faculdade de Ciências Departamento de Psicologia, SPUniversidade Estadual Paulista “Júlio de Mesquita Filho” Faculdade de Ciências Programa de Pós-Graduação em Psicologia do Desenvolvimento e Aprendizagem, SPUniversidade Estadual Paulista “Júlio de Mesquita Filho” Faculdade de Ciências Departamento de Psicologia, SPUniversidade Estadual Paulista “Júlio de Mesquita Filho” Faculdade de Ciências Programa de Pós-Graduação em Psicologia do Desenvolvimento e Aprendizagem, SPFAPESP: 2016/10595-0Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP)2025-04-29T18:41:59Z2025-01-01info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/articlehttp://dx.doi.org/10.1590/1982-0275202542e230007Estudos de Psicologia (Campinas), v. 42, n. 1, 2025.1982-02750103-166Xhttps://hdl.handle.net/11449/29929810.1590/1982-0275202542e2300072-s2.0-105002590704Scopusreponame:Repositório Institucional da UNESPinstname:Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP)instacron:UNESPengEstudos de Psicologia (Campinas)info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessPederro, Mariana de Freitas Pereira [UNESP]Rodrigues, Olga Maria Piazentin Rolim [UNESP]2025-06-24T06:23:36Zoai:repositorio.unesp.br:11449/299298Repositório InstitucionalPUBhttp://repositorio.unesp.br/oai/requestrepositoriounesp@unesp.bropendoar:29462025-06-24T06:23:36Repositório Institucional da UNESP - Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP)false
