Description
Summary:This study aims to investigate how gender studies and feminist epistemologies can trigger affective dissonance, potentially fostering the development of affective solidarity — a central element for the emergence of political engagement oriented toward social justice, as proposed by Clare Hemmings. Exploratory in nature and using an inductive-critical approach, the research seeks to understand how these perspectives, in the academic context, act as catalysts for social and political transformation. By analyzing the historical trajectory of the incorporation of the concept of gender in educational institutions, it is argued that the inclusion of courses focused on this field may lead students to experience affective dissonance. Rather than producing conformity, such an experience — mediated by the dialogue between epistemology and ontology — becomes fertile ground for the construction of affective solidarity and political engagement.
