Descripción
Sumario:Financial literacy is essential for strengthening citizenship and promoting financial well-being. However, a lack of research is observed across various geographical contexts and educational levels, particularly in schools, where teachers play a crucial role as mediators in building this knowledge. In light of this, the present study aimed to measure the financial literacy level of elementary school teachers in the municipal school system of Dom Pedrito, Rio Grande do Sul. A descriptive and quantitative research approach was employed, using a survey method. One hundred and ten (110) questionnaires were completed, applying a methodology already validated in Brazil, the Financial Literacy Thermometer. The results indicated that most respondents demonstrated a low level of financial literacy, as high financial literacy requires strong performance in attitude, behavior, and financial knowledge. Based on these findings, the urgency of intensifying efforts around financial literacy in schools is emphasized, including specific actions directed at teachers.
