Resumo:Objective: To verify if there are differences in formant measures and fundamental frequency (F0) in personal speakers with and without professional voice use. Such research is based on the characterization of the formant pattern of the oral vowels of brazilian portuguese (PB) by means of the acoustic data extracted from these groups of speakers. Methods: A total of 47 speakers participated in this study, 25 radio speakers and 22 non-professional speakers. All participants completed an identification form and were submitted to a session of recording speech samples, through the issuance of vehicle sentences. The voices were edited and acoustically analyzed using the Praat software to extract the F0 measurements and the formant frequency (F1, F2 and F3) from the seven oral vowels of PB. Results: In females, there were differences between the voice professionals (PV) and non-professional voice (NPV) groups in the first formant of the vowel [u] and in the third formant of the vowel [i]. These values were higher in the radiologists for both formants. In males, there was difference between the PV and NPV groups in the first formant of the vowel [i] and in the third formant of the vowel [?]. These values were higher in men who are not voice professionals. Conclusion: In the face of the findings, the adjustments made are not as different as expected, because, today, a more colloquial speech pattern is sought, which allows a closer approximation of the speech pattern of the radio-speaker with the speech pattern of a person who does not use the voice professionally. Women presented the strategy of lowering the jaw and men to enlarge the pharynx.
