Sumario:In this article, I am going to present the system of affections of Baruch Spinoza, a 17th-century Dutch rationalist philosopher. Our path is going to be based on a concise approach on some presupposed concepts of the system of affections, such as: mode, affection, body etc. After concluding this stage, I am going to carefully analyze the Ethics in order to clarify the concept of human being, so we can enter the system of affections. Our approach will be grounded on a consecrated tradition of Spinozian philosophy commentators, seeking to remain faithful to the author as well as to his interpreters and commentators. I will also try to untangle, in an introductory and objective way, some important concepts for the understanding of Ethics, the greatest work of the referred author, such as: substance, attributes, affection, modes, affections etc. Thus, I propose a brief presentation and introduction to Book III of Ethics, and Spinoza’s system of affections.
