Description
Summary:Studies that relate personality traits using generic character scales in athletes are scarce. Therefore, the objective of the present work is to study the possible differences in identity traits between injured and non-injured high-performance soccer players. We worked with two groups of (n = 12), injured and unharmed athletes who were administered the 16 PF personality questionnaire. In the results, the higher average score stands out in the injured soccer players with respect to the scales Affectivity, Dominance, Impulsivity, Group conformity and Daring. On the other hand, they got a lower score on Imagination and Apprehension scales. It is concluded that some personality traits can increase the probability of suffering an injury in soccer. Specifically, soccer players who have high scores in the factors Affectivity, Dominance, Impulsivity, Group Conformity and Daring and low in Imagination and Apprehension are more likely to be injured.
