Descripción
Sumario:There are numerous environmental records in Brazil and worldwide, compiled by entities that conduct measurements, establish standards, and maintain databases to monitor the environment. The objective of this study was to identify institutions that record environmental occurrences in Brazil, based on public databases. Additionally, the study aimed to identify the types of records or fields within records, focusing on the purpose and scope of each. Another crucial aspect was the identification of occurrence types. The goal was not only to understand negative occurrences but also positive ones, in terms of benefiting the environment and sustainability. To aid in the interpretation of these records, a table was created to define concepts of positive and negative environmental occurrences, providing examples of incidents and their impacts on the environment. Once the terms were defined and understood, the research began using an exploratory and explanatory methodology, utilizing official databases with comprehensive content originating from IBAMA and ICMBio. These databases illustrated records of occurrences aimed at environmental conservation, preservation, and monitoring of the environment and nature. The research encompassed the content, structure, and organization of these databases, enabling an understanding of environmental occurrences, whether in the form of lawful or unlawful activities, and whether they are considered positive or negative for the environment.
