Sumario:This study analyzed the technical, economic, and environmental feasibility of reusing and recycling lithium-ion batteries from electric vehicles, with a focus on promoting sustainability and integration into the circular economy. Through a systematic search in academic sources and technical reports, recycling methods such as pyrometallurgy and hydrometallurgy were explored, as well as practical applications for batteries in their second life. The results indicate that the reuse of these batteries is feasible, generating benefits such as reduced operating costs and lower environmental impact, especially by reducing the need to dispose of hazardous waste and dependence on natural resources. However, the study also identified challenges, such as the high costs of technologies, logistical barriers, and the absence of unified global regulations, underscoring the importance of joint efforts between different sectors to overcome these obstacles and promote the advancement of electric mobility in a sustainable way.
