description This work presents a study that aims to analyze the use of Roleplaying Games (RPG) as a methodological possibility for teaching and learning Mathematics. To this end, we aimed to provide a systematic mapping of the literature on Brazilian studies—Theses and Dissertations—that propose possibilities for using Roleplaying Games (RPG) in Mathematics education. The methodological approach adopted included the search, selection, and extraction of data from theses and dissertations in Portuguese and English, available on the CAPES and BDTD platforms, covering the period from 2019 to 2023, based on the guidelines proposed by Kitchenham and Charters (2007). From the researched set, 12 studies were selected, showcasing the use of RPG for various purposes, target audiences, methods, content, and research approaches. The results provided a synthesis of the identified studies, highlighting elements such as the chronological distribution of research over the period, the geographical concentration of investigations, the variety of mathematical content incorporated into RPG practices, and the pedagogical benefits of this approach. We conclude by emphasizing the potential of RPG as a pedagogical tool in Mathematics education, for the understanding and appreciation of this approach.

Assim, temos como questão norteadora: Qual é o estado atual do conhecimento sobre a interface entre o ensino de matemática e o Roleplaying Game? Para tal, objetivamos apresentar um mapeamento sistemático da literatura acerca de estudos brasileiros – Teses e Dissertações – que proponham possibilidades e potencialidades do uso do Roleplaying Game (RPG) no ensino de Matemática. A abordagem metodológica adotada compreendeu busca, seleção e extração de dados provenientes de teses e dissertações em português e inglês, disponíveis nas plataformas CAPES e BDTD, no período compreendido entre 2019 e 2023, com base nas diretrizes propostas por Kitchenham e Charters (2007). Do conjunto pesquisado, apenas 12 estudos foram selecionados, com o uso do RPG com distintos propósitos, públicos-alvo, métodos, conteúdos e abordagens de pesquisa. Os resultados obtidos proporcionaram uma síntese dos estudos identificados, com destaque para elementos como a distribuição cronológica das pesquisas ao longo do período, a concentração geográfica das investigações, a variedade de conteúdos matemáticos incorporados nas práticas do RPG e os benefícios pedagógicos advindos dessa abordagem.
