| Sumario: | Aerobic training (AT) is one of the most important components of a physical activity program. This study aims to evaluate the profile of AT performed by gym goers in Vale do Rio Taquari and Rio Pardo - RS. This is a quantitative, cross-sectional descriptive study, which was approved by the institution's Ethics Committee. The research was carried out through an online questionnaire prepared by the researchers, containing questions related to their profile and the training carried out, in addition to questions that were intended to investigate the profile of the AT performed. Of the 438 participants, 282 (64.3%) of the sample did not meet the WHO recommendations of performing 150 min of AT weekly, either because they did not perform this type of training (n = 117) or because they did not reach the recommended volume (n = 165), where women demonstrate to perform more AT than men. Among AT practitioners, subjects who meet the recommendations perform the training with a greater volume, both in the weekly frequency (p<0.001) and in the duration of the session (p<0.001), in addition to performing the same with a greater intensity (p<0.05). The vast majority of subjects who undergo AT do not have adequate follow-up, whether in professional guidance, monitoring the intensity or the application of tests. It is concluded that only a third of gym goers reach the AT volume recommendations suggested by the literature, as well as, it is worth emphasizing the importance of correct guidance and assistance that Physical Education professionals. |
