Sumario:The objective of study was verifying the knowledge about slimming and exercise of the goers of gyms gymnastic. Participated in 31 volunteers (08 men and 23 women) between 20 and 30 years old. Data were collected via a questionnaire containing nine closed questions, multiple choices. The results showed that the main goals are Slimming (48%), improved quality of life (29%) and increased muscle mass (16%). Prevalence the habit of not food restriction (53%), compared to the follow some type of diet (47%). The source of guidance were Nutritionists (38%), Physical Education professionals (22%), Doctors (12%), friends or do not follow any recommendation (25%) and the best way to lose weight is to combine exercise and diet (91%) associated with the practice of aerobic and anaerobic (62%). Observed supplement intake to lose weight (29%) and those who did not (71%). The Individuals assessed have adequate knowledge about exercise, nutrition and weight loss, but still poor on the consumption of dietary supplements. Food education programs in conjunction with information on the effects of the use of supplements and diets are essential for those seeking to lose weight without harming their health
