Sumario:The changes observed in the past years regarding the preferences and motivations of the students when learning, have result in the implementation of different innovating strategies. This is done in order to facilitate the students the concepts they need to learn, but in a way closer to their needs. Among these strategies we may find gamification. The present study shows the design of a videogame, which could be categorized as a serious game, developed with the aim to increase the motivation of students in a subject perceived as complex, at the School of Engineering at the University of Cádiz. The results and opinions of the students after the implementation are also shown, as well as the amount of time needed by the teachers to carry out the experience. The surveys performed allow to observe that 94% of the students affirm that their motivation on the subject increased as a result of the implementation of the videogame, and also that the students were able to increase the amount of time they dedicated to studying outside the classroom, improving also their academic performance.
